New solar plant (less than 30 kWp capacity)

Important steps before signing the quote

You have chosen to equip your roof or solar carport with a solar plant. To ensure a successful installation and grid connection, several preparatory steps need to be completed beforehand.

⁽¹⁾ It is important to verify this point with the architect who was in charge of the building. Generally, you should allow for an additional load of 15 to 25 kg/m² for a photovoltaic installation. Is the existing electrical connection compliant with current standards (TAB)? The electrician will need to check this during the site visit. You can make an appointment with a Klima-Agence advisor.

⁽²⁾ Within the territory of Esch/Alzette: You must submit a connection request to Sudstroum. Outside the territory of Esch/Alzette: The electrician must submit a connection request to the relevant grid operator (Creos, City of Diekirch, or City of Ettelbrück).

Buy back agreement

The customer must sign a buyback agreement with the supplier before the solar plant installation is commissioned. The customer has the option of signing two types of buyback agreements:

⁽³⁾ Takes into account the system’s capacity (kWp) and the year of initial grid injection. Offered exclusively by Sudstroum within the Esch-sur-Alzette area. Self-consumption is compatible with the guaranteed tariff.

Existing solar plant

Sudstroum offers two buy-back plans for residential solar plants with a capacity of less than 30 kWp.

Sudstroum takes over electricity buy-back contracts at a rate negotiated in Luxembourg. This buy-back contract is available to all residential customers.

Sudstroum does not take on buyback contracts with a guaranteed tariff outside the territory of Esch-sur-Alzette.

When your installation is ready, simply send an email to photovoltaique@sudstroum.lu with:

The signed completion certificate from your electrician
The installed capacity of your solar system
The commissioning date
The signed grid connection and network usage agreements

Once we receive these documents, we will complete the final steps to activate your installation.

Remuneration

When concluding the connection and usage contracts, you will need to specify the desired type of remuneration.

Buyback agreement with a negotiated rate with a supplier

Sudstroum offers a buyback contract to all residential customers in Luxembourg. The remuneration corresponds to a correction factor for the Netztransparenz MW Solar price ( Netztransparenz > Erneuerbare Energien und Umlagen > EEG > Transparenzanforderungen > Marktprämie > Marktwertübersicht), avec les rémunérations suivantes:

Option 1

Buyback agreement with 90% MW Solar⁽⁴⁾

Customers with an integrated supply contract for their main meter.

Option 2

Buyback agreement with 80% MW Solar⁽⁴⁾

Customers without an electricity supply contract with Sudstroum.

Good news! if you subsequently sign up for an integrated supply contract, your feed-in tariff will automatically be adjusted upwards to 90%.

Buyback agreement with a guaranteed tariff for 15 years

The guaranteed feed-in tariff consists of a fixed payment rate for 15 years, based on the system’s capacity (kWp) and the year of the initial feed-in. This tariff is not subject to indexation. Since 2021, you may also consume the energy generated by your system. An additional meter must be installed for any photovoltaic system subject to a guaranteed tariff.
